If you are having problems printing to your Lexmark network
adapters or with the Lexmark printer utilities from Windows NT4.0,
it may be necessary to remove and reinstall the utility(s).
If you are unable to remove the utility(s) through
Add/Remove Programs' under Control Panel, the following instructions
will step you through removing both the Lexmark Network Printer
Utility and MarkVision. Note that this process will completely
remove the Lexmark utilities and any associations (logical
network ports) that you may have created.

NOTE: This procedure requires full administrator privileges
and also that the system be rebooted.

1. Go to Start / Run and type REGEDT32. Choose OK.

2. Delete the Lexmark folder under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software

3. Delete the Lexmark folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software if present.

4. Close the Registry Editor.

5. Go to Start / Settings / and choose Taskbar. In the Taskbar
Properties box, choose Start Menu Programs and choose Remove.

6. Click on Network Printer Utility (if present) and choose Remove.

7. Click on MarkVision Printer Utility (if present) and choose Remove.

8. Choose Close and OK.

9. Go to an MS-DOS command prompt.
10. If the directory NT_PRINT is present, delete this directory
and its contents.

11. If the directory Program Files\Markvis\winnt is present,
change to this directory and type ATTRIB *.* -h . Next, remove
the winnt directory and its contents and then remove the Markvis directory.

12. Go to the WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory and delete the following files
(if present). If you are unable to delete any of these files,
you will need to rename the file(s). The renamed file(s) can then
be deleted after rebooting your system in Step 14.

LEXSTART.EXE LEXLL32.DLL LEXIP32.DLL
INTERACT.* LEXNETUI.* LEXMON.*
LEXBCE*.*

13. If you have upgraded from NT3.51 to NT4.0 and intend to reinstall
the Network Printer Utility, remove the DLC protocol. Reinstall the
DLC protocol from your NT4.0 software.

14. If you have not done so already, shut down and restart your system
now. You may encounter errors while rebooting due to the removal or
renaming of the files in Step 12. If so, continue through these errors.

You are now ready to reinstall the Lexmark Network Printer Utility
and/or MarkVision for Windows NT4.0

1. In order to monitor and print to the Lexmark network adapters via
the Network Printer Utility, The Microsoft DLC protocol needs to be
installed first.

2. After restarting Windows NT 4.0, go to Start, Settings, and Printers.

3. Double Click on the Add Printer icon, which brings up the Add Printer
Wizard.

4. Select My Computer.

5. Click on Add Port.

6. Select the Lexmark DLC Network Port and click on New Port.

7. Enter the path for NT 4.0 cdrom. If it comes up with an error
saying it could not find a file, you may need to point to the
specific directory on the cdrom, i.e.
D:\DRVLIB\PRINT\LEXMARK\X86

8. Enter the information in the Lexmark Port Monitor regarding the
Adapter, Logging etc.

9. Select the adapter from the list adapters in the Associate
Lexmark Network Printers window and enter the logical name for
the association and click on Associate.

10. Choose the DLC port and click on next.

11. Select the appropriate printer driver from the manufacturers
list and click on next.

12. Enter a name for the printer and click on next.

13. Enter a share name for the printer and select the types of
operating systems that will be printing to this printer (e.g.
Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 workstation etc.). If you choose not
to share the printer, you will not have to specify other operating systems.

14. Select Yes or No for a test page and click on Finish.

After the above installation, you will now be able to print to
the printer directly via the network card. The Network Printer
Utility(NPU) version 6.0 will be automatically added under Programs.
Lexlink protocol should be activated on the adapter.
